The successful contracting division of JC Balls and Sons contributes significantly to the overall business.

The first major contract carried out was as a subcontractor to Tarmac, reconstructing the M1 between junctions 29 and 30. Since this time we have undertaken numerous road reconstruction contracts for a variety of major contractors always ensuring that they are properly resourced to meet the tight schedules required on this type of work. Road Contracts carried out over recent years include;

  • Several Contracts on the A1 in Nottinghamshire between Tuxford & Long Bennington excavating the old carriageway and recycling the concrete for use in the subbase.
  • Junction 28, M1 & A38 Road Improvements
  • A46 Hobby Horse Island, Leicester,Widening Works
  • A6132 Markham Road Improvement, Chesterfield
  • A628 Tintwistle
  • M180 Junction 2 - 3
  • A617 - Mansfield Regeneration Route

We also carry out Land reclamation Schemes and have specialised in the formation of ponds/lakes and wetland areas. Recent Work Carried out includes;

  • Pleasley Colliery Land Reclamation Scheme
  • The Avenue Coking Plant, Chesterfield : Wetlands Formation Scheme
  • Manor Park SUDS Scheme, Sheffield

Excavations and earthworks are also carried out on a large number of general construction projects. Our impressive fleet of plant and lorries, along with our experience and expertise ensure that any contract large or small is completed on programme and to budget.
